I adventured and lived in Tulum with my family. I wrote a post all about it here and I highly recommend reading it. This isn’t a typical travel guide, although I do share a handful of my recs if you happen to be planning a trip. Instead, it’s about all the ‘behind-the-scenes’ stuff that unfolded for us while we were there. So good, and you’ll probably be able to relate to much of it.
I was profoundly fed and inspired by Free + Native. The creator and editor Lacy Phillips and what she has created have played a huge role in me giving myself permission to really let my voice exist in the world. She calls those people who come into your life and support huge shifts Expanders and she has definitely been one for me. Huge thank you to her for shining her inspiring light so I can be reminded to shine my own. What an awesome feeling!
I finally stepped fully into creating my website which is an outlet for self-expression and way to offer what I have to share that I’ve been needing deeply for yearsssss. Feels so good to be letting this creation out!
Creative Project + Pursuits are pouring out of me and it feels like such a gift I’m finally giving myself. I need to write a post specifically on this because since having Milo I’ve learned so many lessons that have now allowed me to prioritize the things my soul needs rather than resisting or procrastinating on them. It’s like my whole life is now making sense and why it all happened to lead me to this moment. More coming on this.
I’ve found myself in A New Phase of Motherhood. Milo needs me less and that really changes the game. Since October/November, I’ve known that February was going to mark the moment when Milo and I get a little more space from each other in the healthiest way possible. While we were in Tulum he really cut down on breastfeeding and officially started putting himself to sleep without needing to feed first which was a HUGE game-changer. It’s amazing when the things you wish for start to happen on their own without having to force. I just kept trusting the timing that my intuition kept feeling, even when I wondered if I should try and ‘make it happen’ sooner. So glad I followed it because it’s unfolding better than I could have planned. Our breastfeeding journey has been one that has always felt really essential so I never wanted to rush or force any changes without following his lead.
Bennett and I have been dreaming up our next family adventure. Sicily was top of the list but after some research, we are going to wait until we aren’t toting around a baby or toddler, and all the accessories they come with, who needs strolling and regular naps. Comfort and convenience are top of the list at the stage of the game. So Portugal, maybe? We have friends there so it can feel a little more like home.
Items I’ve loved and relied on in January:
Sunscreen – Perfect to lightly apply to feel protected from the sun but not greasily armored against it
Osprey backpack – The perfect size for one, two, or two and a baby, for a quick beach outing or lunch date
Cover up – A coverup that can pass for clothes and is incredibly comfortable and stylish
Golden Milk Latte – Every damn day! Not really because that would be overkill, but I don’t drink coffee and this latte is just that extra fun drink that hits the spot when you need it, with no worries about side effects of caffeine.
DoTerra peppermint drops – My mom is great about adding these into our stockings at Christmas or just passing along a fresh pack when you need one.
Kleen Kanteen Water Bottle – Gotta stay hydrated. There are lots of travel water bottle options out there but this one holds up really well against life with a baby and travel in general. Also, the bright color helps me keep track of it because it stands out so much.
Parasol diapers – Traveling makes you appreciate all the luxuries of home. One of those for me with a baby is diapers…especially because I researched and consciously chose the type of diaper I’m using for M. When you have to travel for long periods and know you wont have access to purchasing back up diapers of your choice you become very thankful for the ones you use.
